Hello Hangar Owners and Tenants,
We are expecting another great aviation year, with plenty of upcoming events, including Wings Over Camarillo, EAA Young Eagle days, and Historical Airport Display days, at all of our Ventura County airports.
COHOTA is scheduling a Fire Extinguisher renewal day with Hedrick Fire Company, to re-certify or renew your hangar fire extinguishers. Current ordinances require recertification annually. Our next event is at KOXR, near gate V4 on 5th Street, on February 21, from 0800 to noon. This is being held in conjunction with the KOXR Historical Display Day on that day at Axix Air. We have had sporadic turnout at these events, and for Hedrick to continue this service, we need your support. Please RSVP to info@cohota.org, if you think you will be attending.
The Department of Airports (DoA) recently held a discussion on the upcoming KCMA runway construction project, which is tentatively scheduled to occur in Spring 2027. The key points highlighted: Instead of a complete reconstruction requiring a 4 month runway closure, the Department's engineering survey has determined that a runway rehabilitation would accomplish all of the desired goals, but requiring only a planned 20 day runway closure. There were several compelling reasons that the DoA has decided to go in this direction. Helicopter and Ultralight ops at KCMA, during construction, will not be affected. Obviously, this is great news. As we approach the construction dates, the DoA will have more information for users.

The Wings Over Camarillo Air Show is back! This 45-year-old tradition draws over 24,000 attendees for a two-day weekend that is full of family-friendly fun and excitement

Hosting the event is the Camarillo Wings Association (CWA), a 501(c)(3), all-volunteer non-profit corporation with the support of the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) SoCal Wing, Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 723 and Ventura County Ninety-Nines.
The Camarillo Wings Association distributes the Air Show net profits to participating non-profit groups that promote youth in science and aviation, furthering the education of Ventura County youth through leadership and service.

The Ventura County Airports are proud of our rich history of aviation, from the founding of Santa Paula airport in the 1930’s to the storied history of the former Air Force bases at Camarillo and Oxnard. To share this heritage with the community, our local airports have Historical Display Days, once per month, where vintage aircraft are displayed and visitors have the opportunity to see the aircraft up close and talk to the pilots.
Here are the Historical Display Dates for the Ventura County Airports:
1st Sunday of each month: Santa Paula Airport
2nd Saturday of each month: Camarillo Airport
3rd Saturday of each month: Oxnard Airport

Oxnard EAA Chapter 1469 offers an IMC Club for our members interested in improving their flying in instrument conditions.
The IMC Club’s purpose is to promote instrument flying, proficiency, and safety. The intent is to create a community of pilots willing to share information, provide recognition, foster communications, promote safety, and build proficiency in instrument flying.
The IMC Club monthly programming is developed and produced by EAA, but it does not use a lecture or presentation format. Instead, an actual scenario is presented and is followed by a group discussion – so audience participation is encouraged!

Founded in 1992, the Young Eagles program is dedicated to giving youth ages 8–17 an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation airplane. These flights are offered free of charge and are made possible through the generosity of EAA member volunteers.
It’s the only program of its kind, with the sole mission to introduce and inspire kids in the world of aviation.
Today, the Young Eagles program has flown over 2 million kids.
